Really disappointed with the way we finished, it was a game we should have won. At Wankhede, the batters need to cross the line easily when you are chasing 163. We used the match-ups well to restrict India. This bunch of youngsters is a very good bunch of players, they will come back strongly.
Hardik Pandya:
[on being addressed as India captain] Now I have got used to it. It was just cramped, I am alright. it was a rough night, I was unwell and I had my fluids down. If I am smiling, everything is fine. [On Axar bowling the final over] We might lose a game here and there but it’s alright. It’s the young guys who got us back into the game. I have seen him [Shivam Mavi] bowling well in the IPL and I just told him to simply bowl. I told him, ‘I am backing you. Even if you get hit, it’s fine.’ If the same situation is there, I will take the new ball. I have been bowling in the nets with the new ball since I returned to the IPL. I have learned how to swing it back.

I try to practice for every position and try to give my best at every position. We knew if get the momentum on our side, we will reach 160. I recently played domestic cricket, so I am aware of the game situation even though I don’t practice range-hitting.
Shivam Mavi:
I was waiting for this moment for the last six years. Had injuries in between and it felt my dream will never come true. Nerves were 3-4 on a scale of ten because you know what to expect when you have played the IPL. The first wicket was my favorite.
