England vs West Indies Highlights – ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 2nd Match

Hayley Matthews says WI had targetted 140-150 after a good start to their innings: “Today was about getting in early in the World Cup, good to get some out in the middle. Stafanie didn’t hit what she wanted to today but we are backing her 100 percent. [India] is crucial after today, take the positives from today into that game.”

Heather Knight: “They put us under pressure, it wasn’t our best fielding and bowling but attitude with the bat was fearless, what we want. We want to take the game on and entertain, go hard at the top, got the depth and the smarts in the middle to adapt if we need to. Today was a big step to take that mindset into the big game when there are some nerves around. A lovely blend with those youngsters doing their thing, and important to have experience in big competitions. Play golf tomorrow, and have a day off. Chill and get your mind right [for Ireland].

“A bit of a two-paced pitch, but I was very boundary-focussed,” says Nat Sciver-Brunt, who is holding a trophy that implies she is the Player of the Match. “We want to walk towards the danger. Ireland [next match], much of the same, keep that communication going. We’re having fun out here, want to keep that going.”

ENG WMN vs WI WMN Highlights today, Saturday 11-10-2023. 2nd Match, Group B, Boland Park, Paarl, ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023.

“Looking at the conditions, we might get the better half of it,” says Hayley Matthews. “We’ve been learning and growing as a team in our transition period. Hoping for more to step up to the plate.”
Heather Knight: “Lots of drinks, pretty hot day. Wind around will come into the game tactically. Not the worst thing to have a look at and adapt accordingly with the bat. A super vibe around the girls, getting used to the conditions. Desperate to get going. We take a lot of confidence from that tour of the West Indies, but today’s a new day. Going to be fun, hopefully very aggressive.”
