Tim Southee: “Much better in all three areas, in a style we expect to see from NZ. Finn’s innings allowed people to bat around him and GP’s innings on a wicket like that showed his class. First few overs were crucial and allowed the spinners to come through the middle.
Jos Buttler: “Credit to NZ, they outplayed us, good toss to win and they took the game away from us. Needed a fast start and a good powerplay but we didn’t get anything going. With two right-handers, was a hard match-up for Moeen. Delighted for Gus to get more exposure, settled well in the group and his performances have been brilliant.”
Finn Allen is player of the match: “The way they bowled, we tried to push through the middle and take it deep. Worked on holding my shape more, more of a method instead of being too reckless. Didn’t know what a good score would be so watch the ball and react…”
