England vs Bangladesh 3rd ODI Highlights – 6 March, 2023

Jos Buttler: “We wanted desperately to win the game today but of course, we’re still delighted to win the series. We got off to a fantastic start but Bangladesh fought back really well. [Curran’s promotion?] It was a great opportunity for Sam to get up the order. He’s someone with huge potential with the bat. [World Cup prep?] We got out of this tour exactly what we wanted. We wanted to play on wickets like that. Great for us to challenge ourselves in these conditions, the conditions that we find the hardest. [T20Is?] We look forward to the games. It’s a format we really enjoy.”

Tamim Iqbal: “We were really looking forward to this game. We wanted to finish on a high. Still disappointed because we lost the series. The first game was a killer. Praise must go to England and the way they played. Adil bhai was brilliant throughout the series. Today was still not the best, we should have scored 270-280. But the bowling effort was fantastic. [WC prep?] There’s a lot of room for improvement still. We’re a good team in ODIs but when we go overseas and have different conditions, we have to try and do better. [T20Is?] There are some exciting players coming in. I wish them all the best.”

Shakib Al Hasan is the Player of the Match: “We’ve been very good in the last five to seven years at home. We showed a lot of character. We could have rolled over and lost three-nil but we fought to the end and luckily we got the win. We thought we were 20-30 runs short but having said that, our bowlers talked about stepping up and doing a job for the team. We expect our top-order players to score hundreds, not fifties.”

Adil Rashid is the Player of the Series: “It felt good throughout the series, not just myself but I thought we bowled well as a collective unit in these conditions. [Rehan?] He’s got something special about him. Hopefully, as time goes on, he’ll develop his game and get better.”

England vs Bangladesh Highlights today, Monday 6-3-2023. 3rd ODI (D/N), England tour of Bangladesh, Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.

Tamim Iqbal: “The wicket looks a little dry. Hoping it might spin a little in the second innings. We need to play as a team for once, as a batting unit for once.” Ebadot comes in for Taskin, who is “having a break”.
“We’re desperate to play a good game of cricket,” Jos Buttler says. He adds that England would have chosen to bowl. “Rehan Ahmed’s going to make his debut, so that’s exciting. We want to push on again.” Three changes: Archer, Woakes, and Rehan come into the side, with Wood, Jacks, and Mahmood dropping out. Still no Reece Topley. Sam Curran is carded up at No. 5. “He’s a young guy, a really exciting, dynamic player. He can bat, bowls some good leg-spin, and we think he’s got a bright future ahead of him.”
