England vs Bangladesh 1st T20I Highlights – 9 March, 2023

Jos Buttler: “Bangladesh finished the innings well, we were in a position to kick on but were 20 short. Had to chase it in the field. Low bounce and a little slow but stayed consistent throughout the game. Bangladesh took the game on and put us under pressure. A different balanced team to what we sometimes play, blessed with options and a nice position to be in.”

Shakib Al Hasan: “The way we approached the game was fantastic, under the pump in first ten overs but no-one panicked. Stuck to the plans. Other than my dropped catch, everyone fielded well. In T20 when you don’t think too much you tend to play well. Hopefully we can keep this in the dressing-room. This is a great start, for WC in 2024 in West Indies. We will be able to put out a very good team when World Cup starts.”

Shanto is Player of the Match: “Towhid batted well, I just watched the ball and played cricketing shots. Not too worried about losing two wickets. The way the bowlers bowled was outstanding, Especially Hasan and Taskin. Rony and Litton set up very well, all about starting in T20 cricket.”

Pitch and weather: The first T20I will be played on the same pitch where the third ODI was played earlier in the week. So expect a slow pitch and no real lateral movement. The weather will be dry.

England vs Bangladesh Highlights today, Thursday 9-3-2023. 1st T20I (D/N), England tour of Bangladesh, Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.

Shakib: “We don’t know what a good score will be so we’ll let them bat first, we need to play with a lot of freedom, first game since World Cup. A lot of boys in who performed well in BPL.”
Buttler: “A squad full of experience, bodes well, looking forward to good series. Would have looked to bat first, used wicket from the ODI series. Have to adjust well. T20 encourages you to play with freedom, encouraged to show talent.”
