A number of six t20I matches had been played between the Afghanistan team and the Scotland team from 2010 to 2016. The Afghanistan team won all of them. Also in all these six matches, the Afghanistan team won very dominantly. From the Scotland team, they won all three matches in the qualifying round of the Icc men’s twenty/20 world cup very easily (One of them was Bangladesh team). So both teams will play today’s match with a lot of confidence.
AFG vs SCOT Highlights Today, Monday 25-10-2021. 17th Match (N), Group 2, ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Afghanistan vs Scotland, from Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Toss: Afghanistan won and chose to bat first.
Nabi: “The wicket is dry and good for batting. We had a really good game against WI in the warm-up. We’ll try to repeat that combination and performance.”
Coetzer: “Very happy to bowl, that’s what we wanted to do anyway. Chasing the score down was successful in the IPL recently. The boys got a chance to enjoy themselves for what we’ve achieved. We still have a chance to prove ourselves and our privileged to see where we are. No changes for us, we’re comfortable with what we have.”
Afghanistan team: 1 Hazratullah Zazai, 2 Mohammad Shahzad (wk), 3 Rahmanullah Gurbaz, 4 Asghar Afghan, 5 Mohammad Nabi (capt), 6 Najibullah Zadran, 7 Gulbadin Naib, 8 Karim Janat, 9 Rashid Khan, 10 Naveen-ul-Haq, 11 Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

Post Match Presentation
Mujeeb is the Player of the Match: “Congratulations to our nation and it’s my first Player of the Match in a World Cup. The people supporting us here gave me a lot of positive energy. Fans have been supporting us and that’s one reason we’ve played well (the crowd roars).”
Coetzer: “Clearly not one of our better days. We have been playing some good cricket to get here, but sometimes things don’t go to plan. This was against a very good Afghanistan team on a potentially tricky pitch, we have to give them credit and some good ones from our guys too. Mark Watt was really good. We fought hard in the field. It’s just a level check to see where our standards are. We’ll be better for it in the next game. We have a great bunch of players and beliefs in the side. The belief among the players is key. It’s not like we’ll be locked up in separate rooms. We’ll come together in the hotel. We have to keep moving forward.”
Nabi: This was our plan, to bat first and put a big score. The way our openers started really well, finished the powerplay with a good score and then Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Najibullah Zadran rotated the strike really well. Everyone knows Rashid and Mujeeb are among the best in the world. It’s a really nice team and hopefully, we’ll keep winning. When they bowl in the nets we hit them everywhere, with no respect in the nets (laughs). When we play the local tournaments like Shpagheeza or APL, me and Mujeeb and Rashid are the expensive bowlers. It was Mujeeb’s first game in T20 World Cup and he got the Man of the Match, it’s fantastic.
