South Africa vs Australia Highlights – July 6th, 2019 – Cricket World Cup

Faf du Plessis: We haven’t played our best cricket, so disappointed. But playing Australia is the best game to be part of. South Africa make a forced change, with left-arm wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi replacing Hashim Amla, who is nursing a knee injury. Right, Shamsi-Tahir together one last time for South Africa. Shami looks up to Tahir and had told me last year about Tahir’s influence on his career. I’m looking forward to the double shoe-telephone.
Aaron Finch: Few boys got their feet up and good to getaway. We are unchanged and it seems to be working for us.

South Africa won the toss and elected to bat.

Pakistan vs Bangladesh Highlights – July 5th, 2019 – Cricket World Cup

“One change, we need to score a lot,” Sarfaraz says. “We know the margin is big, but no changes to our team. The loss against West Indies was disappointing. But we want to finish on a high note.”

Mashrafe says, “we would’ve loved to bat first. Mahmudullah is back for Sabbir, and Rubel is not playing, Mehidy is playing. We’ve been playing well against Pakistan, but they are starting to take off. Won’t be easy. It’s my last World Cup match 100%.”

Pakistan v Bangladesh Icc Cricket World Cup 2019 Highlights

ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 Points Table

Pakistan will bat first.

Pakistan team: 1 Imam-ul-Haq, 2 Fakhar Zaman, 3 Babar Azam, 4 Mohammad Hafeez, 5 Haris Sohail, 6 Sarfaraz Ahmed (capt & wk), 7 Imad Wasim, 8 Shadab Khan, 9 Mohammad Amir, 10 Wahab Riaz, 11 Shaheen Afridi.
Bangladesh team 1 Tamim Iqbal, 2 Soumya Sarkar, 3 Shakib Al Hasan, 4 Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), 5 Liton Das, 6 Mahmudullah, 7 Mosaddek Hossain, 8 Mehidy Hasan Miraz, 9 Mohammad Saifuddin 10 Mashrafe Mortaza (capt), 11 Mustafizur Rahman.

The pitch to be played on for this game was used for the Pakistan-South Africa clash, which was more than 10 days ago. That should give the track, which had a strong green tinge, some freshness. Weather is not expected to play spoilsport, although it’s likely to be hot and sunny like it has been in London this week.

Wahab Riaz picked up a minor hand injury in a fielding session before the Afghanistan game. He was cleared to play that game, but now with this match set to be a dead rubber, Pakistan may decide to give him a rest. Mohammad Hasnain, who has not featured at all this World Cup, could be allowed a game for an experience that Pakistan will hope will serve them well in the years to come.

Mushfiqur Rahim got struck on the elbow during a nets session on Thursday, but there is no big threat yet. “I’ve had no chance to see the physio yet. Generally, that sort of area most people are okay,” their coach Steve Rhodes said. “I don’t remember too many people breaking elbows or forearm of the bottom hand. So I’m hoping that he’ll be okay.”

Otherwise, Mahmudullah is likely to return after recovering from his calf injury, which means Sabbir Rahman will have to make way despite a run-a-ball 36 against India. Rubel Hossain should play again, which means Mehidy Hasan could be confined to the bench once more.

West Indies vs Afghanistan Highlights – July 4th, 2019 – Cricket World Cup

Jason Holder reckons the pitch could get slower as it progresses. Two changes – Evin Lewis in for Sunil Ambris, and Kemar Roach for Shannon Gabriel.

Gulbadin Naib would also have wanted to bat first. Hamid Hassan, Hashmatullah not playing, and Sayed Shirzad and Dawlat Zadran will get a go.

England vs New Zealand Highlights – July 3rd, 2019 – Cricket World Cup

“I think the pitch and overheads,” [are the decisive factor], says Eoin Morgan. “The pitches have got tougher, slower, lower as the match goes on, and it’s a trend that the pitches haven’t been as good as the last few years. It’s a bit like a quarter-final, we train hard, play hard, today is what it’s all about.”

We would have had a bat as well, but it’s important to do a job,” says Williamson. “Ferguson has been outstanding, but a hamstring niggle, hope he recovers quickly.” Southee and Matt Henry are in, with Sodhi also sitting out.

India vs Bangladesh Highlights – July 2nd, 2019 – Cricket World Cup

Mashrafe says he would have batted first too. Two changes for Bangladesh too. Mehidy Hasan is out for Rubel Hossain. The bigger news is Mahmudullah has not passed a fitness test on his calf tear. Sabbir Rahman replaces him.

Ian Bishop says the captains are “jovial” standing next to him. Mashrafe spins the coin. Virat Kohli calls heads. And it is…. heads! India will bat first. Virat says it’s a wearing wicket so they want runs on the board before the pitch shows signs of breaking down later in the day. Two changes: Kuldeep Yadav is out for Bhuvneshwar Kumar (which Kohli says is a selection based on the short boundary on one side, a major talking point post-match v England) and Dinesh Karthik in for Kedar Jadhav.

West Indies vs Sri Lanka Highlights – July 1st, 2019 – Cricket World Cup

“Pretty good wicket,” Holder says. “Fresh wicket. We have to tighten up on. Have our pride to play for. Still aiming the perfect game. Told the batters to give yourself a fair chance to succeed. One change: Roach is unwell, Gabriel in.”

“Would’ve liked to bowl too,” says Karunaratne. “We couldn’t pass 250 often and no hundreds, those are the keys for our middle- and top-order. After the World Cup, we have to sit down and discuss what the future plans are. For now, we are focusing on the World Cup. Three changes.”

India vs England Highlights – June 30th, 2019 – Cricket World Cup

Eoin Morgan: It’s a matter of two games, hopefully, we’ll win the two games and go through. Tough challenge against India. (Plunkett inclusion) is more tactical. The wicket looks good, doesn’t look like it’ll turn much. (Jason Roy) is not a big risk. He’s trained well and he’s fit to play. It is a test of our character. We spoke as a group, rejigged and reset what we’re trying to do.

Virat Kohli: Never a problem, love chasing. But honestly, would have batted first as well. We haven’t chased after the first game, so it’s a good challenge for us. We might have looked to do that in the last couple of games anyway. We haven’t really focused on the opposition till now in the tournament. We’ve been finding ways to win games, that’s the biggest positive for us. Vijay Shankar has a bit of a toe niggle, Rishabh Pant comes in for him. We’ve all seen what he can do with the bat. He’ll bring a lot of flair and fearlessness, once he gets going, he’s difficult to stop. There’s one short boundary as well. Crunch result on the outside as well, so I’m sure the fans of the Pakistan team will be supporting us today!

New Zealand rued leaving out legspinner Ish Sodhi on what many experts likened to a fifth-day Edgbaston track against Pakistan. However, the surface for Sunday’s game is a fresh one. England’s director of cricket and former spinner Ashley Giles reckons this will be the “best batting pitch of the tournament”. India are likely to remain unchanged unless they want to tinker with the line-up to fit Jadeja in. James Vince is set to make way if Roy plays.
