India vs England Highlights – June 30th, 2019 – Cricket World Cup

Eoin Morgan: It’s a matter of two games, hopefully, we’ll win the two games and go through. Tough challenge against India. (Plunkett inclusion) is more tactical. The wicket looks good, doesn’t look like it’ll turn much. (Jason Roy) is not a big risk. He’s trained well and he’s fit to play. It is a test of our character. We spoke as a group, rejigged and reset what we’re trying to do.

Virat Kohli: Never a problem, love chasing. But honestly, would have batted first as well. We haven’t chased after the first game, so it’s a good challenge for us. We might have looked to do that in the last couple of games anyway. We haven’t really focused on the opposition till now in the tournament. We’ve been finding ways to win games, that’s the biggest positive for us. Vijay Shankar has a bit of a toe niggle, Rishabh Pant comes in for him. We’ve all seen what he can do with the bat. He’ll bring a lot of flair and fearlessness, once he gets going, he’s difficult to stop. There’s one short boundary as well. Crunch result on the outside as well, so I’m sure the fans of the Pakistan team will be supporting us today!

England win the toss and bat first.

India team: 1 Rohit Sharma, 2 KL Rahul, 3 Virat Kohli (capt), 4 Rishabh Pant, 5 MS Dhoni (wk), 6 Kedar Jadhav, 7 Hardik Pandya, 8 Kuldeep Yadav, 9 Mohammed Shami, 10 Yuzvendra Chahal, 11 Jasprit Bumrah.
England team: 1 Jason Roy, 2 Jonny Bairstow, 3 Joe Root, 4 Eoin Morgan (capt), 5 Ben Stokes, 6 Jos Buttler (wk), 7 Chris Woakes, 8 Liam Plunkett, 9 Adil Rashid, 10 Jofra Archer, 11 Mark Wood.

New Zealand rued leaving out legspinner Ish Sodhi on what many experts likened to a fifth-day Edgbaston track against Pakistan. However, the surface for Sunday’s game is a fresh one. England’s director of cricket and former spinner Ashley Giles reckons this will be the “best batting pitch of the tournament”. India are likely to remain unchanged unless they want to tinker with the line-up to fit Jadeja in. James Vince is set to make way if Roy plays.

England vs India 5th Test Day 5 Highlights – Sept 11, 2018

Ind v Eng highlights today – fifth test day five from Kennington Oval, London (England) Tuesday 11th September 2018. England scored 332 & 423/8d, India 292 & 58/3 * (18 overs, target 464), till stumps day four India require another 406 runs with 7 wickets remaining. AN Cook the opener of the English team scored 147 runs off 286 balls. He completed his last innings with smashing fourteen boundaries.

When his wicket fallen then it happened like this (94.2 Vihari is on a hat-trick. Would you believe it? He has dismissed two centurions in two balls. Cook looks to cut, the ball skids through, and the edge settles in Pant’s gloves. Every single Indian fielder shakes his hand. The last walk back for Cook. A big applause from the stands. Another generous reaction from the crowd. Cook takes one look back, raises his bat, waves it overhead, and walks off. Bairstow pats his back too. What a career. The old batsman has left the crease. And we know that he is done 321/4).

England won the toss and elected to bat.

England vs India 5th Test Day 4 Highlights – Sept 10, 2018

Ind v Eng highlights today – fifth test day four from Kennington Oval, London (England) Monday 10th September 2018. India completed their first innings yesterday with 292 runs all out in 95 overs. GH Vihari scored 56 runs off 124 deliveries on his debut when his wicket dismissed then it was (76.4 stretchings forward, a snick off the edge as the ball turns back in from a tight fourth-stump line and up goes the finger! But hang on Vihari reviews. His bat and pad were very adjacent … but so too was the ball. UltraEdge confirms a medley of noise at the moment of impact, and the third umpire has ‘no reason to overturn’… England have their wicket! 237/7).

RA Jadeja faced 156 balls and smashed 86 runs, he completed his innings with eleven boundaries and a maximum, and he batted till the end of the Indian innings and he goes not out. England vs India 5th Test Day 3 Highlights – Sept 9, 2018

Ind v Eng highlights today – fifth test day three from Kennington Oval, London (England) Sunday 9th September 2018. Yesterday England started their play from 198 with seven wickets down and reached 332. It was the brilliant performance result by JC Buttler and SCJ Broad. SCJ Broad scored 38 runs off 59 balls and out.

When it was (117.3 KL Rahul is not dropping anything here. This is a sensational catch. A catch that is not quite appreciated enough when watching on TV. Broad tries to drive a length ball over mid-on, gets too much under it and hangs it up in the air, but it looks like it will clear Rahul. Rahul, though, sprints back, keeping an eye on the ball, sees it fall over his shoulder, and then dives full length to catch it. Rahul has had a great catching series 312/9).

England won the toss and elected to bat.

JC Buttler faced 133 deliveries in his beautiful innings and scored 89 runs. He completed his innings with the help of six 4s and two 6s. When his wicket fallen then it happened like this (121.6 and Jadeja ends the innings. India refuses to give him the easy single to manipulate the strike, and it works for them. Buttler looks for the big shot to a length ball, it is not on, the ball turns, and takes a thick edge to slip where Rahne takes a good catch. Buttler ends on 89 and walks off to a big applause 332/10). RA Jadeja took four wickets, JJ Bumrah and I Sharma took three wickets each of them.

The opener of the Indian team KL Rahul scored 37 runs and gone, S Dhawan 3, CA Pujara 37, V Kohli (c) 49, AM Rahane duck, RR Pant † 5. GH Vihari 25 not out and RA Jadeja 8 not out. Till stumps day two India trail by 158 runs with 4 wickets remaining in the innings.

England vs India 5th Test Day 2 Highlights – Sept 8, 2018

Ind v Eng highlights today – fifth test day two from Kennington Oval, London (England) Saturday 8th September 2018. JE Root won the toss and decided to bat first, England scored 198 runs in day one’s play with seven wickets down. The opener of the team AN Cook played very good innings with scoring 71 runs off 190 deliveries. When his wicket dismissed then it was (63.2 there will be no hundred for Cook unless he gets it in the third innings. There is a disappointed sigh at The Oval but then the crowd rises for Cook as he goes off after playing one on for 71. This is on a length, just outside off, possible with the switched seam position to send it back in. Cook is surprised by the movement back in, and gets the inside edge as he looks to defend 133/2).

KK Jennings contributed 23 runs, MM Ali scored his fifty and out when it was (82.3 edged, gone, Moeen snicks one at last! A carbon-copy of pretty much anyone of the 30-40-odd plays-and-misses that he has totted up in his innings. Lifting off the deck, arrow-straight line on off stump, and demanding a stroke. The end of a diligent, self-denying knock. And India’s hard-working day of toil gets better! 177/6). JE Root (c) gone with duck same as JM Bairstow † and SM Curran, BA Stokes scored 11 runs. JC Buttler 11 not out, AU Rashid 4 not out. I Sharma took three wickets, JJ Bumrah took two same as RA Jadeja who also took two wickets.

England vs India 5th Test Day 1 Highlights – Sept 7, 2018

Ind v Eng highlights today – fifth test day one from Kennington Oval, London (England) Friday 7th September 2018. Kennington Oval is a very old cricket ground. The highest total of the venue is 903/7d scored by the home team against Australia in 1938. The second-highest total is 708 scored by Pakistan against the home team in 1987. India team’s highest total here is 664 scored in 2007 and the home team’s highest score against India is 594 scored in 1984. In August 2014 India tour of England, The home team scored 486 runs in reply India 148 & 94 and England won by an innings and 244 runs.

So this was the short story about this ground and now we know that England already have won this test series and today’s match will be the last match of this India tour. Now see the most runs scorers and most wicket-takers from last four test matches, JM Anderson took 19 wickets. I Sharma took 15, SCJ Broad and Mohammed Shami took 14 wickets each of them. India vs England 4th Test Day 4 Highlights – Sep 2, 2018

England lead by 233 runs with 2 wickets remaining till the end of day three. AN Cook scored 12 runs off 39 deliveries and out, KK Jennings contributed 36 runs, when his wicket dismissed then it was (31.5 pitched up, this nips in to hit the back pad – given! Jennings looks ruefully to his captain, then decides to review, but I don’t think this is going to save him… Yep, that’s plumb, Hawk-Eye projecting the ball would have crashed into leg stump! It stayed a touch low, which might encourage England’s bowlers when it comes to the fourth innings but will be no consolation for Jennings. What a moment to strike! 92/3).

MM Ali has gone with just nine runs, Captain of the team JE Root scored 48 runs, with the help of six boundaries, when his wicket dismissed then it was (45.6 tapped to the leg side, Stokes calls him through… and there’s a direct hit at the striker’s end! Has Root been run out here?! He doesn’t look happy, but he waits for the third umpire, who confirms the dismissal! That’s a shoddy way to go, though well played Mohammed Shami, who was quick to move from mid-on and fired in a direct hit! Looks like Root hesitated and Shami picked the right end to throw to. England’s captain stalks from the field, and India has dragged the game back their way once again 122/5).

JM Bairstow has gone with duck, BA Stokes 30, JC Buttler † 69, AU Rashid 11, SM Curran 37 not out. Mohammed Shami took three wickets, I Sharma two and, R Ashwin and JJ Bumrah took one wicket each of them.

AN Cook faced 55 balls and scored 17 runs when his wicket dismissed then it was (17.1 gone, Pandya strikes, and Cook is out in a slightly uncharacteristic manner. India vs England 4th Test Day 1 Highlights – Aug 30, 2018

Eng v Ind highlights today – Fourth test day one from The Rose Bowl, Southampton (England) Thursday 30th August 2018. Just three teams had played test matches at The Rose Bowl, Southampton venue, Sri Lanka, India and the home team England. First in 2011 England played against Sri Lanka and in 2014 they played against India. The highest total of the ground is 569/7d scored by England against India. India’s highest total at this pitch is 330 all out in 106.1 overs. James Michael Anderson standing on top of the most wickets takers list with seventeen wickets in last three test matches and the Indian team captain Virat Kohli is standing on top of the most runs scorers list with 440 runs in six innings with highest 149.

I Sharma bowled brilliantly and took eleven wickets in five innings, SCJ Broad took ten wickets. JM Bairstow scored 206 runs in five innings with highest 93 and JC Buttler scored 170 runs in five innings. Now the next two tests are so important for India because they have to win both of them if they want to win these five test matches series and England is just one victory away from getting the series victory. Both teams are fighting so hard and it is a very tough competition because India is the world’s no 1 ranked team and England got home advantage.

England have won the toss and will bat first.

Joe Root tosses, Virat Kohli calls heads, and it’s tails. England will bat first. “Looks a good pitch, sun out at the, moment, hopefully we can take advantage of a good pitch. I wouldn’t say [we’re making too many changes]. We’re playing a five-match series, so we’ve got to rely on a squad. It’s an opportunity for Moeen to come in and prove the form he’s been in over the last few weeks. [Bairstow] will be fine at four.”

Kohli says he would have batted first too. “It’s a good grass covering, but the surface is nice and even, probably the best surface of the series. Good thing is, it’s hard, and we’re looking forward to that.” India, for the first time in Kohli’s captaincy, are unchanged. “Rightly so as well,” Kohli says. “Looking at the conditions, and Ashwin is fully fit as well.”
