South Africa’s 4th wicket down at 142 and it was F du Plessis wicket when 51.2 75.1 kph, edged, taken at slip! So the drop hasn’t proved too costly, and that’s a bit of giveaway from du Plessis. Although, credit to Herath, he gave that more air outside off, slowed it down, encouraged another drive and it took the edge to Mathews 142/4. T Bavuma faced 28 balls and scored 10 runs but had not survived for so long and out.
D Elgar scored 129 runs off 230 balls, it was his 6th test century and also a highest total of his test career. He smashed fifteen 4s in his innings when his wicket dismissed then it was 84.4 133.3 kph and edged this time! Lakmal reward again. Lovely stuff. In the channel outside off, was a touch wider than the previous ball, Elgar just feeling for it a little, more seam movement, and a healthy edge to the keeper 272/6, (it was the last wicket of yesterday’s play which had been down).
Q de Kock† and KJ Abbott are still not out and will start batting again today. CBRLS Kumara new youngster from Sri Lanka took three wickets yesterday, RAS Lakmal took two and HMRKB Herath took one wicket. South Africa scored 297 runs at first day with six wickets down.
