“Enjoyed both the hundreds,” says Jos Buttler. “A bit more fluent today. A little bit sticky to start off with but once you get used to it, it was good to bat on. Difficult for bowlers with one short side. Early on bowl lengths even if you get hit. Towards the end, be smart with slower ones and short lengths, and make them hit to the longer side as much as possible.”
Shreyas Iyer: We went in line with the run rate from the start thanks to Finch. We could not continue which was bad but it is a part of the game. (On Nitish’s dismissal) My plan was to bat till the end, Yuzi had a favorable matchup against him. Jos started slow but he took off, he maneuvered the ball well and continued really well. Conditions-wise, there was not much dew and the wicket was amazing to bat on. The ground has not been good for us but we will look to come back positively. (On his innings) I love pressure. I did not think of what the teammates thought of the score, I wanted to go all in. I thought if they can get it, so can I.
Rajasthan Royals vs Kolkata Knight Riders Highlights today, Monday 17-4-2022. 30th Match (N), Tata Indian Premier League from Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.
Toss: KKR won and chose to bat second.
Shreyas Iyer says: The wicket looks amazing. A lopsided boundary. And of course, KKR loves chasing. And there has been dew in Bombay. Shivam Mavi comes in for Aman Khan for KKR. That is the only change.
Sanju Samson would have loved to bowl first himself, but it is what it is. This is the first time they are playing at Brabourne Stadium. Three changes for RR. Trent Boult is fit and back, Obed McCoy makes his RR debut, and Karun Nair is in. Out go James Neesham, Kuldeep Sen and Rassie van der Dussen.
Rajasthan Royals team: 1 Jos Buttler, 2 Devdutt Padikkal, 3 Sanju Samson (capt. & wk), 4 Karun Nair, 5 Shimron Hetmyer, 6 Riyan Parag, 7 R Ashwin, 8 Trent Boult, 9 Prasidh Krishna, 10 Yuzvendra Chahal, 11 Obed McCoy.
Kolkata Knight Riders team: 1 Venkatesh Iyer, 2 Aaron Finch, 3 Shreyas Iyer (capt.), 4 Nitish Rana, 5 Sheldon Jackson (wk), 6 Andre Russell, 7 Sunil Narine, 8 Pat Cummins, 9 Shivam Mavi, 10 Umesh Yadav, 11 Varun Chakravarthy.
Yuzavendra Chahal, Player of the Match says his celebration was based on the meme that came from the 2019 World Cup. His plan was going wide and full to the right-handers. He said the attempt was to bowl to the longer boundary. He was thinking of the googly for the hat-trick ball but went with the safer option. He thought the googly came well to Venkatesh Iyer and said he will come on with the Purple Cap the next time.

KKR Won: 13
Sanju Samson: It was very tense and interesting. It was important to be calm and believe in ourselves. Halfway, I thought it was chaseable. They played very well and did not give chances. But the wickets helped. Chahal and Buttler’s performances were there for the world to see. Ashwin’s ball stood out as well. McCoy does not talk much and is calm, his ability to bowl well under pressure was commendable.
