Shoaib Malik says: “We’re playing on a new strip so we would like to assess the pitch first-up and batting second helps in that regard. Plus, the dew factor is significant in the latter half of T20 games at this venue so we prefer to bowl first”.
Shoaib Malik: “We didn’t commence things particularly well but as a captain, I have to back my bowlers. Fielding is one department that we need to enhance because, in a format like T20, there is not enough margin for error. Naseem Shah was terrific tonight. It’s really good to see our young pacers excelling and employing clever variations in their armory.
Sarfraz Ahmed: “We were definitely some runs short because we didn’t finish as well as we would have liked. Naseem Shah bowled exceptionally well and I am happy that our top-order batted brilliantly tonight. Hopefully, we can improve on the things we have lacked tonight in the upcoming matches.”
