Today 24th match had been played between Pak u19 v SL u19 from ICC Under-19 World Cup 2016 and Pak U19 won by 23 runs. Sri Lanka Under-19s won the toss and chose to bowl first and Pak u19 scored 212 runs in 48.4 overs all out. Hasan Mohsin played good and scored 86 runs off 86 balls with one maximum and eight 4s. Salman Fayyaz scored 33 and Saif Badar 24. From SL U19 bowling SHTN Nimesh, PWH de Silva and BADN Silva these four bowlers took eight and equal wickets.
PHKD Mendis scored 68 and PVR de Silva† 46. Shadab Khan Pak U19 took three wickets. Sameen Gul, Hasan Mohsin and Ahmad Shafiq took six and equal wickets. Pakistan Under-19s won Group B after defeating Sri Lanka Under-19s by 23 runs thanks to a standout performance by Hasan Mohsin with the bat and the ball. In the quarterfinals, Sri Lanka will play England, while Pakistan will play the West Indies.
Sent in to bat, Pakistan started slowly and when Wanidu Hasaranga removed Salman Fayyaz (33) in the 41st over, ending his 61-run partnership with Mohsin, their run rate was still less than four per over. At the other end, wickets dropped regularly, with none of the bottom five scoring more than ten. However, Mohsin made sure to push Pakistan to a competitive score, finishing ninth out for a run-a-ball 86 that included eight fours and a six.
In 49 overs, Pakistan was knocked out for 212. With his soft seam-up to start the bowling, Mohsin then delivered Pakistan two early wickets, getting rid of both Sri Lankan openers. When the in-form Charith Asalanka and Shammu Ashan were dismissed for cheap dismissals against the spinners, Sri Lanka fell to 63 for 4, but an 84-run partnership between Kamindu Mendis and Vishad Randika turned the chase around.
However, Mendis holed out to long-on for 68 (104b, 5×4) just as Sri Lanka appeared to be coasting home, and Hasaranga and Randika (46 off 71) quickly followed. With an undefeated 21, Damitha Silva kept Sri Lanka in the hunt for a while, but legspinner Shadab Khan took the final two wickets to end with figures of 3 for 31 as the lower order collapsed around him.
