The captain of the Indian tea had hon the toss and he chose to bat first. India scored 250 runs on the first day with the loss of nine wickets. KL Rahul has gone with just two runs, M Vijay scored 11. Captain himself dismissed with three runs, AM Rahane added 13 runs to his team scoreboard. RG Sharma contributed 37 runs, RR Pant † scored 25 runs as same as R Ashwin. It was CA Pujara who give some hope to his country and to his team by scoring 123 runs off 246 deliveries. TM Head had not taken any wicket yet but the rest of the Australian bowlers took two wickets each of them.
