Ire v Afg highlights today – second one day international from Civil Service Cricket Club, Stormont, Belfast (Ireland) Wednesday 29th August 2018. Afghanistan won the t20I series by winning first two matches, the third t20I match was abandoned without a ball bowled. First ODI Afghanistan won by 29 runs. Now it’s the must-win game for the home side Ireland to stay alive in the series. In the first one day, international Afghanistan scored 227 and Ireland all out in 48.3 overs with 198 runs. A Balbirnie scored 55 runs, GC Wilson 38 and KJ O’Brien 22. Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi and Aftab Alam these three Afghanistan team bowlers took two wickets each of them. Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Gulbadin Naib took one wicket each of them.
Toss: Afghanistan are going to have a bat first.
On Bank Holiday Monday they scored what looked like an under par 229 from their 50 overs, built primarily from a 77 run 4th wicket partnership between Gulbadin Naib and his Captain, Ashgar Afghan. Yet once again it was their tight bowling that won it for them, only letting Ireland score one boundary in the last 16 overs, meant that Ireland we always behind the run-rate. With the wickets shared around the bowlers, it was very much a team effort. Today is also a historic day for Afghan cricket as this is the 100th ODI that they will have played, Nabi, if he is picked, will also play his 100th ODI today.
